086I thought I’d start this whole thing off with the Portland temple, since it is our home temple right now. We’ve lived in Oregon since 2007- almost ten years now… wow! I remember the first time I saw it.

We were out driving around, brand new to the area having just moved here from Florida, and Carey asked me to look down at the map for something. I didn’t know he was just trying to distract me so he could surprise me by taking me there. I looked up from the map and there was the angel Moroni, up in the trees. It was a beautiful sight. And although we were new there and everything was different and strange, I felt home.temple-2

Date Visited: Often

Location: Lake Oswego, Oregon

Miles from home: 4.4

Dedication: August 19-21, 1989 by Gordon B. Hinckley

Locals Tip: It might be odd, but us locals are known to hit happy hour at Oswego Grill after visiting the temple. Cheap and super yummy food, convenient location just down the road, and great for visiting with friends. Carey always orders the Shirley Temple, and I just get whatever sounds good.
